PANGAO HISTORY
According
to local historian and the first settlers here, during the Japanese occupancy
in this place “ipinapangaw” those people by the rebel from East to West or from
West to East. Later the barrio called “Pangao” a word derived from “ipinapangaw”
and the rest was history.
Of
the twenty six barrios comprising the municipality of Ibaan, Pangao ranks sixth
in historical significance. Pangao is a sun kissed spot of plains. The inhabitants,
which number most of whom are peaceful agriculturists. Some are vendors. They
are God fearing, law-abiding group united in their endeavours, living a
democratic life, participating the ideals of Christianity. The houses are
mostly made up of bamboos, wood and galvanized iron and they are in both sides
of the road. There are few isolated huts in the interior farms. Each house,
through small is a model in cleanliness and each inhabitant living in
hospitable way. Any visitor is greeted with a smile of welcome. Something to
quench the thirst is served with sincerity that new comer easily finds himself
at home in his place. The products of the farm are rice, sugar cane, mangoes and
kalamansi. The people lead a real life.
Much
remains still undone in this barrio. But Pangao promise to march with the over
changing condition of time. Who knows if sooner or later it will lead all the
rest?
Barangay
Pangao is once a small settlement founded by the hardworking people from the
neighboring towns and provinces. Rumors had it also that this used to be center
of Commerce which may be true because a lot of the people thrive on peddling
commonly known among us as the “lako” business. The rest of the people have
since been engaged in farming and livestock raising.
